BANGOR COMIC & TOY CON

Update from the Bangor Comic & Toy Con:

It’s with a heavy heart that we have to share the postponement of the 2020 BCTC.
Over the past few days, we have been following the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak news with concern of how it would impact our upcoming event. We have attempted to keep everyone updated with the latest information to our even. We have been working with the cross center to make sure things would be handled with safety and caution that would make celebrity guests, vendors, and attendees feel safe and welcome, despite the climate of worry and concern in the air.
We must say the fan support has been amazing.

Unfortunately, with all intention to stay the course, a lot has changed since Wednesday. The Governor has asked that all large gatherings be postponed. European flights have been halted, schools are shutting down, and the cross center has closed indefinitely for now.
As well as several confirmed cases in our state.
While we were encouraged to stay the course by our friends with the city of Bangor and convention center … this is now out of everyone’s hands.

Sadly our event dates are just too close to everything going on and we need to do what is best for all parties involved.
With all of this in place, we must postpone our event – which was set to take place April 24-26th 2020. Pending any additional unforeseen changes to government policy it’s a lot of work, so we have more calls to make and more details to confirm, including trying to maintain our guest list, canceling/transferring flights, and so much more. We appreciate your time and understanding while we work through this. All of your continued support and love for this event has shown. We promise that it won’t go unnoticed and we look forward to making this happen this fall.

We are a small business, two guys with a passion to bring something to the city we love. We LOVE the family we have built over the years. We feel tremendous sorrow and pain for the vendors, managers, filmmakers, supporters, and everyone else who relies on this event to pay their bills … including the local hotels, restaurants, car service companies, center event staff, and local businesses. … it’s an unprecedented situation that is occurring in an effort for our state to minimize the impact of the spread of the virus over the next few weeks and we side with the decision based on the information we are being continued to receive – and we ask that everyone please be patient with us as we sort through the continued options at our disposal. Visit the web sites of our amazing vendors. Support them, and help them through this trying time.

Thank you for the support. Thanks for the thoughts. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work through the details, contracts, communication, and other obstacles related to this situation in the coming days and weeks. Look for additional posts and information as we are able to provide them. We will be working all day with the cross center to set a new date for this fall and as soon as we have the date we will make everyone aware.

Stay safe
Jay, Will & the BCTC team.

BANGOR STATE FAIR

The 2020 edition of the Bangor State Fair will be cancelled due to concerns surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Bangor State Fair was set to occur from July 30 to August 8.  The fair is one of the oldest in the country, with the first edition running in 1849.

The fair was set to feature new additions such as unique rides, nightly live music, 4-H agricultural competitions, live entertainment shows, the demolition derby, truck pulls, and daily admission specials as part of this year.  This year the Bangor State Fair was also going to include special theme days that would coincide with local community foundations, organizations, Founding Partners, and sponsors.

“Safety is always of the utmost priority to us and under these unprecedented conditions we didn’t feel it would be possible at this time to be able to provide the level of guest experience at the Bangor State Fair that everyone has come to expect. At the time of the decision to cancel this year’s fair, we were in full swing to create a better guest experience for everyone attending the fair, which stemmed from a lot of the positive feedback we received from many people in and around the Greater Bangor area.  Our team is already looking forward to next year’s fair, which is tentatively scheduled from July 29 to August 7, 2021  We will use this additional time to work on making the 2021 Bangor State Fair one of the most exciting and memorable fairs yet.  When we come back next year, our goal is to make the Bangor State Fair one of, if not the best fair in the state.  We will miss working with all the parties involved in making the fair happen every year and we look forward to working with them all again in the future.” said Cross Insurance Center General Manager Tony Vail.

The tentative dates for the 2021 Bangor State Fair will be from July 29 to August 7, 2021 at Bass Park and the Cross Insurance Center, as announced by Vail.
